Hi, Debbie G. and All:

Both hubby and I are up and getting ready to head out for individual appts. that we have this a.m.  It must be cold outside as the heaters have been running a lot.

Our water is gong to be turned on and off sometime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. today and tomorrow.  The water company is doing routine maintenance.  It's amazing how dependent we are on water, isn't it?  I guess I'll fill a couple of containers with water just in case it's not running when I need it.

Debbie G., sorry to hear  you have shingles.  My hubby had them and he said they were quite painful.  Did you know there is a vaccine available to prevent shingles.  I think you have to be about 60 years old to get it but am not sure about that.  We got ours last year (I'm 59 until next month) so I think there is a little leeway in the age limit.  Anyway, I hope that the meds kick in fast and you're symptom free soon.

Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning Debbie and everyone....

I am doing a quick check in. I will be back later to read more.

Debbie....hope they catch the shingles in time. A friend of mine had it in her mouth and it was awful! Good luck with that!

I am leaving shortly to go to a funeral so no more time to post.

Love and hugs to all......connie d

Oh My shingles in your mouth, that sounds so painful, my dear step mom gets them seems like at least a couple times of year. Pure misery.

I feel on top of the world today, and for no reason. Just walking around with a big ornery smile on my face wishing I could find some trouble to get into. Finally getting a haircut today, my gal has been booked solidly for over a month. I am used to calling on Monday morning and going in the afternoon, no such luck. Every one has been asking if I am growing my hair out. They think I want to look like a shaggy dog on purpose?? I am also thinking of letting it go au naturale for a few months. I have colored my hair for over 30 years. My daughter has never even seen my natural hair. I am curious as to how much grey I have. We shall see I have said this before but  when it gets a couple inches of roots, bothers me too much to continue.

Starting tomorrow Liz goes in twice a week . gets hooked up to some machines to have a stress test done on the baby. I have never heard of such a thing, have any of you??? I am hoping it is to see if he will be strong enough to take an early induction, but I just don't know. It has me concerned. Our little Hunter is almost 4 pounds. Finished his nursey and it is awesome, if Imay say so myself. well I have yacked enough. bitterly cold here also 2 degrees coming to work today, tomorrow is suppose to be -10.. yuckkkkkkkkkkkkkk. Carla, you may not want to tell us how cold you are at 60 today. Blessings

Hi Debbie and all,

Hope those antivirals work fast and you get rid of those shingles.

Brenda is improving day by day.  Yesterday she was able to drink more and can now eat 1/3 cup of food at a time.  Tomorrow she has a doctors appointment to get the staples out....ouch!  We have an OH friend staying with us and helping Brenda while I'm at work.

I've been so busy with Brenda's ordeal that I don't think I told my OFF family my good news!  I went back to my spine doctor last week and he was ecstatic when I told him that I am pain free.  I get a pain once in awhile, but it's more like a tired leg compared to what it used to be.  I can remember hardly being able to walk.  I think the combination of the chiropractor, the spinal injections, and physical therapy have really helped not to mention all the prayers from my family and friends.  I have physical therapy again this afternoon.

It's been snowing all day and looks pretty nasty out.  The high temp for tomorrow is supposed to be zero.  I'm glad I have the day off to take Brenda to the doctor.

Sounds like everyone is talking on the phone lately.  Last week I had the pleasure of talking to Joyce.  Thank you Eileen for posting about your talk with Joyce.  It prompted me to get off my behind and call her.

Hope everyone stays warm.

Good Afternoon Debbie and My OFF Family,

I am at work so this will be short and sweet!  It is a *****illy here in Southeastern NC and supposed to be even colder as the week progresses.  The frost was very heavy this morning.  No snow yet this year, but I would like to see just one this year, NO ice just snow.  You know just to kill off some of the creepy crawlies.

Other that working today not much going on.

Went shopping at consignment shops on Monday and boy did I hit the jackpot.  Bought Ann Taylor suits for $4.99. Looked brand new!  What a steal!

Ya'll in the North 40 stay warm and I'll try to catch you tomorrow.

Hugs,

Hi Debbie and all,
I got up enough energy to go to Starbucks and the Walmart to get some much needed groceries. Now I am dead!!!!! /but in a few minutes I am going to take care of Lily.
Debbie I hope you mouth gets better with the anti viral. I know shingles hurt.
Well I go for the 2nd blood test tomorrow to see where my numbers are. Maybe this is the weekend for them to do the I-131 but I dont think so.
Well onward and upward.

For those who have never had shingles, there is a shot that you can take to prevent ever having them.....I'm not sure what age group, but surely over 50, I would think.
Most insurance will pay for the injection.   Had mine last year and had no problems.  Your PCP will give you a prescription for the shot and I had it right at the pharmacy.

You have to be 60 or older, and some insurance cos. don't pay for it. (Some don't even pay for tetanus boosters, let me tell you, I learned that last year!) Some people get shingles before 60, so it doesn't really matter. Shingles is a form of chicken pox, so if you had chicken pox when you were younger, you could get shingles when you get older, because the virus lives on in your body and attacks when your defenses are down (that's how my friends Mary Kay and Bruce got it). Most people don't get it until they're over 60, which is why the vaccine isn't recommended before 60.
